Blogger's Quilt Festival

The quilt that I'm choosing to post for the Blogger's Quilt Festival is this one.

The pattern is Picture This from the Happy Hour book by Atkinson Designs.  I have seen so many variations of this pattern, and I just love them all.  (I've linked to some of those quilts in this blog post).   You can see where I messed up on the placement of the squares.  There are 3 that are facing the same way in the middle of the quilt, and they shouldn't be.

I didn't do a very good job on the quilting either, as you can see here.

I was trying to channel Mrs. Schmenkman and her quilting abilities - but she wasn't coming through very clearly - so I gave up.  *sigh*  I just finished it up by stippling it.

And the back.  Yes, the back.

No, it doesn't go all that well with the front.  But I had the fabric and decided to use it.  My girls gave me a hard time about using that backing fabric.

But the binding - ah, the binding.  Even though I don't have a good picture of it, the pieced binding is just wonderful.

Why did I choose this quilt?  I'm choosing it because I sleep under it every night. Now, keep in mind, even though I do share a bed with my husband, only I sleep under this quilt - because it's not big enough to fit over our whole king sized bed.  And at night when I'm laying in bed watching tv I tend to look at the quilt once in awhile, and when I do, I just love it every single time.  I think it's the colors.  They are so girly and so soothing.  All I know is that even with all of its faults, this is my favorite quilt (right now).

Thanks Amy for hosting another Blogger's Quilt Fesitval!

Michelle, I love that this is your favorite quilt! It just proves that perfection is overrated!! I actually like those 3 in the middle that are facing the same way!
In my book anyone that completes a quilt is awesome!!

I love that pattern too. I made something similar using a Bali Pop and I loved the result.

I think a lot of the time our favorite isn't our best work but the one that gets the most use.

This is a lovely quilt in soft colors - I can see why you love it so much. Some quilts are made to be hugged and wrapped up in. Enjoy!!

What a beautiful quilt! I love that pattern.

I, too, sleep with my own quilt at night. It has helped to solve our "blanket stealing" fights in the morning and now I get to stay warm all night :)

A well loved quilt is the perfect quilt. You say this has imperfections, but who cares? You love it, it is very pretty, and it is well used. It's lovely and needs no apologies.

It's a great quilt! Atkinson Designs are such good patterns. Don't worry about the quilting. You'll get better and better on each quilt you make.

And as others have said, perfection is overrated! The fact that you love it makes it perfect!

This is the quilt I intended to do for my grandnephew but couldn't remember which quilt I loved and what I had planned on. Does that ever happen to you? I think that is what I am going to do and then several weeks go by and I forget. However this time I'm not going to forget. I have a baby quilt for a good friend I need to make over the weekend. She's a girl I work with and I want it fast, modern and cute. So I am going to steal YOUR idea on this one! Thanks.
